New York City 2011: Days two, three, and four

Saturday was a bit different, as I headed to Brooklyn with dad while girlfriend went off with the other ladies to tour fleamarkets and vintage shops. A cask ale festival was being held at dba Brooklyn in Williamsburg. We sampled local beers that were quite the treat – dad’s partner joined us for a snack at another Williamsburg cafe afterwards.

Towards the evening most of us headed to Chinatown for dinner, and found good food at the Amazing 66 on Mott Street. I had chicken in black bean sauce and girlfriend ordered seafood in a nest. We all then headed back to base for a good night’s rest…

Except that from out of nowhere – no, it was likely not the seafood, as others ate bits of it too – girlfriend caught a stomach bug and spent the night and most of Sunday and Monday vomiting. I stayed at her side and didn’t do much at least on Sunday.

We did go out a bit on Monday, to lower east side to get friend Shirina the book she wanted from a small vintage/rock/punk store called Live Fast. We ate at a small italian bakery-cafe that served their own bread and pasta, and it was swell apart from her not really being capable of eating.

In the evening, I left her resting at base and met with the others at a 230 5th Avenue rooftop bar for drinks, and then headed off to Lombardi’s, the allegedly oldest pizza place in NYC (founded 1905). It was good. There was evidence of Jack Nicholson having eaten there. Simple but good pies.

Then a heading of back home and to sleep.
